Lives and works in and around London.
Samuel Storey is an artist and writer.
His artistic practice focuses on themes regarding the mediated self, the fallibility and infallibility of language, subjectivities of the embodied experience, virtuality (often in terms of the imagined, immaterial or digital), etc...
Interdisciplinary in nature, he works within the realms of collage, drawing, writing, 3D, photography, sculpture, installation and new-media.
As of late, Storey has concentrated on the affective powers of pain, disease and discomfort - particularly the affect of the internal, as opposed to exclusively the external. In essence, regarding embodiment, or rather the body disembodying in reaction to trauma - be it lived or the vicarious. The work addresses the deconstruction and formation of identities and the ways in which the self interacts with themselves, others and (digital) media.
